|
| Someone has stolen my name and fraudulently transferred my domain name to another registrar, how do I get it back? |
If your domain name has been fraudulently transferred from one domain registrar to another without your knowledge, you should contact your previous registrar and they will work with the new registrar and any other necessary organizations in order to retrieve your name. If your name was with Nameway® and is now with another registrar, please log into your account and submit request through this Support Center. Select Request Help, using the subject Fraud Transfer. This will automatically be assigned to our Transfer Manager who will start the investigation for you. |

| Is there any reason why a transfer would be rejected? |
A domain is required to be with the current registrar for 60 days, and cannot have an expired status. These are the two common reasons a transfer would be rejected due to domain status. Each registrar may have it's own policy on waiting periods and should be consulted should a question arise. If the transfer is canceled because it was "rejected by the losing registrar", please contact that registrar to inquiry about the reason. After you have taken care of the issue, you can resubmit your transfer. You are NOT charged for failed transfers. |

| Do I have to create the transfer electronically, or can I just fax a letter to you? |
You must innitiate the transfer electronically on our site. In order to provide proper processing of your domains, we need to have the electronic transfer request created. This provides an order number for easy tracking. |

| The e-mail forwarding (or URL forwarding) services are missing from the control panel after I tranferred my domain. Why can't I use your dns settings on this domain? |
After a transfer, the contact information changes, but not the DNS servers. If you are using your own DNS, those features will not be available. If you want to use Nameway®'s DNS services, click on "domain name", "my domains", then click on "DNS server" - change to use Nameway® nameservers. Please allow up to 48 hours for the change to take affect with the registry. Your website may go down while waiting for the changes to propagate. |

| How do I transfer a domain name away from Nameway®? |
If you choose to work with a different registrar and need to transfer your registration away from Nameway®, the only action you will need to take is to remove the registrar lock from your domain name. OR obtain the authorization key (for EPP domains). The TLD determines which process to use. This is different than changing your nameservers, or "transferring your domain to your hosting company". Please see DNS and Nameservers section for assistance with this. Below are the steps to follow to remove the lock from your domain name to enable it to be transferred away from Nameway®. Log into your Nameway® account. If the domain is with an EPP registry (.org, .biz, .info, .cn and .us) there is not a lock, but you need an authorization key. This is found by going into the domain control panel: Log into your Nameway® account. Keep in mind that a domain name must be at least 60 days old before the registry will allow it to be transferred between registrars. Once the lock is removed and the name is past the 60 day holding period, you will be able to enter a transfer request with your new registrar. |

| What does the term Registrar Lock mean? |
This is a feature that prevents your domain name from being transferred from Nameway® to another registrar. If you are attempting to transfer a name away from Nameway®, this lock must be removed. It does NOT affect the ability of your domain to resolve to your website; it only protects you from unauthorized transfers to another registrar. |

| How do I add or remove the "Registrar Lock" from my domain? |
Log into your account, Click on "domain names", "my domains". Click on the domain name link you want to modify. This will take you to the Domain Name Control Panel, a page that allows you to edit all settings for this particular domain. Scroll down to the Utilities section, click on "Set Reg-lock/Auto-Renew Options". Check or uncheck it, press save changes, and you are done. |

| What is Nameway®'s policy on Transfer of Sponsorship of Registration Between Registrars? |
For each instance where a Registered Name holder wants to change its Registrar for an existing domain name (i.e., a domain name that appears in a particular top-level domain zone file), Nameway® requires: Express authorization to initiate the transfer process from an individual who has the apparent authority to legally bind the Registered Name holder (as reflected in the database of losing Registrar). In instances when the Registrar of record is being changed simultaneously with a transfer of a domain name from one party to another, Nameway® also requires submission of appropriate authorization for the transfer. Such authorization shall include, but not be limited to, one of the following: A bilateral agreement between the parties. Instances when the requested change of sponsoring Registrar may be denied include, but are not limited to: Situations described in the Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.

| If I transfer my name to Nameway®, does the whois information stay the same? |
There is an option on the transfer page to "apply current contacts from "Whois" that will collect the current whois information for the name before it is transferred and then reapply that information once the name has successfully transferred. If you do not select this option the contact info will default to the information that you provided when the order was created. |

Once a transfer request has been submitted, the current registrar has up to 5 business days in which to reply to the request. If the request is not replied to by the current registrar within this 5 business days the registry will automatically complete the transfer. If a domain expires while in the process of transferring the current registrar may decline the request. You will need to contact your current registrar to find out what their policy is on this. |

| When I resubmitted my transfer order the Order Type changed from Auto Verification to Fax Verification. Why did this change? Do I need to send you something by fax? |
When a transfer order has failed and you choose to resubmit it there is no need to ask the Regsitrant to authorize the transfer again. The transfer was successfully authorized by the Regsitrant (or an authorized domain contact) during the first attempt, and now it is only necessary to get approval from the losing Regsitrar. The Fax Verification status simply resubmits your transfer order without sending the email authorization requests. There is nothing more that must be done by the Registrant at this time. |

| I'm trying to transfer my .biz, .info, and .us domains To Nameway® and it's asking for an authorization key. Where to I find the authorization key? |
When you are transfering a .biz, .info or .us domain to Nameway®, you must get the authorization key from the current registrar. You may be able to get this number from your online account with that company, or you may need to email or call the Registry directly. The Registry requires this authorization key and you will not be able to transfer the domain to Nameway® without it. |

| When I transfer my domain, will my site go down? Will the DNS change, do you delete the nameservers? |
When you transfer your domain, if you have selected to have the regsistrant data change, that will update per your request. Otherwise, nothing will change with your domain registrant details, and we will not change your nameservers. You can transfer your domain and feel confident that your website will NOT go down when you transfer the domain. We do not change the DNS when you transfer the domain. To change name servers: Click on "domain names", "my domains". Use Nameway® name servers and save your changes. It can take up to 48 hours for the DNS to propagate with the registry, but your site will not go down while waiting for this update. |

| It looks like the domain has transferred away, but it's still in my account. I can't make changes to it. Error said: Invalid Domain Contacts. |
After a domain transfers away from Nameway®, we do not purge the domain immediately; therefore, it will still appear in your account for a few days (with the old settings, such a registrar lock will show on). You might try to remove the lock, for example, but it won't let you because the domain has already transferred away. You may get an error such as failed to get registrar lock for example. Check with the registry to verify current registrar, for example for .com domains you can search the WHOIS at: www.verisign-grs.com |
